About Anna
I started making wedding dresses after completing fashion design studies and taking extra bridal and corsetry courses.
I am passionate about understanding my client’s inspiration and making dresses that are unique to the wearer. The first stage of a commission involves taking time to listen to your ideas and vision for your wedding dress and how you would like to look and feel whilst wearing it. We discuss fabrics and I make suggestions and sketches before the process of making and fittings begins.
It’s great to see that a huge trend for brides right now is to relax and do things your own way and I love working with brides looking for something unique. A bespoke gown can be specially designed whilst my samples can be adapted to make them truly personal. I use traditional fabrics sourced from trusted silk and bridal suppliers whilst a beautiful ‘eco’ dress can be made using organic silks or hemp silk satin.
Another stylish choice is a vintage or pre-loved dress customised to fit or even re-styled into something truly original. It is also an ethical choice to re-use garments and employ a local designer.
I think many brides are looking for the perfect dress they have been dreaming of for some time. As a little girl my favourite pastime was to wander barefoot dressed up in my Mums old 50s dresses whilst caught up in my own little world. The dress I loved most had a full skirt and my big sister had artfully customised it with sleeves of vintage lace. Much of my inspiration for my sample dresses comes from childhood memories and a love of costume history which is woven into contemporary designs. I am passionate about understanding your own vision of your perfect dress.
My studio is at Old Bakery studios beside the river in Truro,a new and growing creative hub of artist and designer studios.
